Inside Track - The Business of Formula 1

Northam was asked to produce four half-hour shows on the Business of F1 for CNBC. The series would take us to Grands Prix around the world and even a hot lap with F1 Red Bull driver Max Verstaapen!


The Project

Our first hurdle was having our producers learn about F1! While a few of the team were F1 fans, our producers were not. However, we were aware of the business aspects affecting the industry and set out to create four shows that highlighted some of those areas, including Sponsorship, Sustainability, Innovation and tech, and Local Impact. Once approved, we worked with F1, the teams, and F1 partners to bring the stories to life.

The Result

We conducted twelve shoots across five countries and at three Formula One Grands Prix. We filmed in the garages and offices of some of the biggest teams in F1, including McLaren, Red Bull, Ferrari, and Mercedes. Our show was initially set to air on CNBC International but was also picked up by Peacock’s streaming service and CNBC US. Furthermore, the entire Northam team is now hooked, and we are eagerly anticipating Season 2!
